Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc is a prominent sugar refining and marketing company. It is the largest sugar refinery in Sub-Saharan Africa. The company imports raw sugar from Brazil, refines it into Vitamin A-fortified white sugar, and sells the finished product under the brand name Dangote Sugar across Nigeria and to other West African countries.
The company operates a backward integration plan, which includes sugar cane farms and a sugar production plant, to reduce reliance on imported raw sugar.
The company commenced business as the sugar division of Dangote Industries Limited in March 2000 and was spun off as a public company in 2006.
